Alice Wallace

December 15, 1933 — July 10, 2023

Alice Victoria Wallace, age 89, peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, July 10, 2023. Alice was born on December 16, 1933 to the late Walter Brothers and Lora Bell-Dantzler in Edenton, North Carolina.

Alice spent much of her youth "in the south" as she would say; learning lifelong skills like: cooking, baking, sewing, cleaning and helping her mother care for her brothers. Alice was the only girl of three brothers: the late Ernest Hoskins; John "Stanley" Wynne and Jerry Dantzler. Alice was known for her exceptional cooking skills, her outspoken personality, her talent for making clothing and her hospitality.

Alice attended public school in Edenton, North Carolina until the age of 13, when she relocated to Philadelphia, PA. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system. Alice was employed as a seamstress, housekeeper and caretaker of children for several years. Even after Alice discontinued working outside the home, she remained working inside the home: cooking, baking, cleaning, sewing, and caring for her own family.

On November 28, 1964, Alice married David Wallace and they remained married until her untimely transition. Their family was comprised of six beautiful children: Bernard D. Brothers, Laura Brothers, twins Eugene Brothers and Eugenia Brothers (deceased), Kirk "Douglas" Wallace and LaTosha Wallace. Alice was not too fond of store brought foods. She would make her children's baby food, cook daily and be sure to offer humor with her caregiving. Alice frequently made her own clothing, clothing for her children and grandchildren. Her sewing projects consisted of: pillows, quilts, curtains, oven mittens, table cloths, dresses, coats and a host of whatever else she wanted to make. Even while her health declined, she was still desiring to create something new.

Alice accepted the Lord at a young age and was a member of Eagle Rock Baptist Church, of Philadelphia, Pa. - Rev. C. Meekins. She later joined People's Baptist Church, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with Pastor Williams.

Alice was proceeded in death by her daughter: Eugenia Brothers; her eldest brother: Ernest Hoskins; her son-in-law: Riley Jones; and her granddaughter: Jennifer Jones.

Alice leaves to honor her memory: her husband of 59 years, David Wallace; her children: Bernard D. Brothers (Kathleen), Laura Jones, Eugene Brothers (Maria), Kirk "Douglas" Wallace (Sonia), and LaTosha Wallace. Her remaining two brothers: John "Stanley" Wynne and Jerry Dantzler. Ten grandchildren: Roxanne Jones, Tracy Love, Tamika Jones, Takeyla Brothers, Antonio Farrer, Riley Jones Jr., Jordan Wallace, Mica Wallace, Rachelle Medallo, Renalyn Medallo, and Jahi Wallace. Seven great grandchildren, a host of cousins, family and friends.
