Earnestine Pelzer was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 2, 1948. She was the youngest of seven children born to Hilderbrand Sr. and Jessie Mae Pelzer. Earnestine was born after the untimely accidental death of her father in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Her birth signaled the beginning of her family's life in the city of Philadelphia where her mother moved immediately after her husband's untimely passing. For her entire life, Earnestine was affectionately referred to as "Tiny" by family and dear friends.
Tiny attended schools in the Philadelphia School District. As a youth, she attended Morning Star Holiness Church. Tiny was a very outgoing person. She loved people and looked forward to engaging in laughter and conversation with everyone. Tiny was not an avid sports fan, but she loved to bowl. She bowled in several leagues at the now defunct Stenton and Washington Bowling Lanes. A lover of music, Tiny especially enjoyed "Right and Wrong Way" by Keith Sweat and "Reasons" by Earth, Wind and Fire. Her children and grandchildren knew every word of "Reasons" because Tiny taught them the words and often had them participating in a "Sing Along." Tiny loved to play cards and was a frequent visitor to Parx Casino and the many casinos in Atlantic City. Her grandchildren looked forward to their summer vacations with her in Wildwood, New Jersey. Also, as much as family and friends, tried to convince Tiny to lay off pork because of her pressure, she always looked forward to eating and enjoying her smoked pork chops. Many of us look forward to the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Tiny cherished and always looked forward to celebrating her birthday as a holiday.
Earnestine was predeceased by her parents, her six older siblings, her son, Kyle Pelzer and her grandson, Dominique Pelzer.
Although faced with several medical challenges and surviving cancer on two occasions, Tiny's sudden passing on Thursday, October 23rd was unexpected. Almighty God in His infinite wisdom called our beloved Tiny home and she entered into eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children, April Kimberly, Kevin Dwayne, George Kelly, Shavita Janel, 9 grandchildren, Kandi Pelzer, Kyle Pelzer (Charna), Donshae Pelzer (Talibah) Ashad McNeil (Corey) Nyfese Pelzer, Dequan Pelzer, Ceirra Pelzer, Shaniyah Hubert, Amiyah Pelzer, 18 great grandchildren, her sister-in- law, Gloria Pelzer, a god daughter, Tamirah Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, as well as other relatives, the Hearts That Matter Most Adult Day Services, neighbors, and dear friends. Earnestine, our Tiny, will be sorely missed by all.
