A Life of Faith, Love, and Service
Dr. Edith D. Moreno, affectionately known as "The Sweetheart of the Highway," transitioned peacefully on October 28, 2025, just days shy of her 89th birthday. Born on November 2, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she dedicated her life to faith, love, and service.
Pastor Edith Moreno was born, reared, and educated in Philadelphia, where she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age under the leadership of the late Bishop Ida Robinson, founder of Mt. Sinai Holy Churches, Inc., who was also her beloved aunt.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Elder Domingo Moreno, who faithfully served by her side in ministry until his passing on December 2, 2013. Through their blessed union, God gifted them with five children: Domingo Jr., Carlos, Antonio, Carmen, and Rosin Moreno.
A Legacy of Ministry and Music
Dr. Moreno was a prominent religious leader, musician, radio personality, and a true legend in the tri-state area. Her inspiring ministry touched countless lives throughout the community. Gifted musically, she played several instruments and often used her music to worship, minister, and glorify God. Her deep love for gospel music reflected her faith, and through every melody and song, she lifted hearts and drew souls closer to Christ.
For over forty-five years, she faithfully ministered on Gospel Highway Eleven (1110 AM) every Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. She shared gospel music, words of encouragement, and opened the phone lines for praise reports and prayer requests. Many testified of being healed, delivered, and saved over the airwaves as God moved mightily through her voice and message.
Her ministry extended far beyond radio. Every Monday evening, she led powerful healing and deliverance services at Faith Tabernacle of Love Church in Philadelphia, where lives were transformed through prayer and faith. Together, Pastor and Elder Moreno established additional ministries in Trenton, NJ; Ocean City, NJ; and Vineland, NJ, spreading the Gospel far and wide.
Their calling also led them abroad to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and Nassau, where they witnessed the hand of God move among His people. One of their most cherished experiences was traveling to the Holy Land, where they prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, were baptized in the River of Jordan, and entered the tomb where Jesus once laid. Elder Moreno often preached in Spanish while Pastor Moreno translated in English - a beautiful reflection of their unity and partnership in ministry.
A Life of Learning and Leadership
Dr. Moreno received her Doctor of Divinity from the Jamison Bible Institute, a testament to her dedication to learning, teaching, and living the Word of God.
As Pastor of Faith Tabernacle of Love Church, she led with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Her passion for teaching, mentoring, evangelizing, and music ministry was evident as she guided many in their spiritual journeys with warmth and sincerity.
She found immense joy in gospel music, often using it to uplift, inspire, and bring comfort to those in need. Her kind spirit, radiant smile, and steadfast faith left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.
Cherished Family and Legacy
She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy:
Her loving children Domingo Jr., Carlos, Antonio, Carmen, and Rosin Moreno;
one daughter-in-law; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren;
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved Faith Tabernacle of Love Church family,
all of whom will continue to carry her love, faith, music, and light in their hearts.
