Fannie Cherry

Fannie Cherry was born October 1, 1929 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late Benjamin and Fannie Roscoe .She was one of four children.

Fannie was a member of India woods baptist church in North Carolina.

Fannie received her education in Bertie county School district. Fannie met her husband Elbert Cherry and moved to Philadelphia. From that union were eight children: Shirley, Ernest, Elsie, Elbert, Leo, John, Darlene & Darnell. In Philadelphia, she began working in factories and later she became a housewife.

Fannie loved clothes and fashion, she loved to get her hair and nails done and shopping for clothes. She especially loved playing the lottery.

Fannie had a great relationship with her grandsons Ernest and Tony. She resided with them for many years until her care required more that they could offer. As her health began to decline, Fannie became a resident of the Caring Heart Nursing Home, until her death.

Fannie was preceded in death by her brother Willie Roy, and sister Georgia, Children: Elbert Jr, John, Darnell, Ernest Sr and Leo, one grandchild: John Jr, one great grand: Michael, two son in laws :James Sr, and Cornelius Sr, of Baltimore Md and one daughter in law: Dorothy Cherry.

Fannie is survived by three Daughters Shirley Johnson, Elsie Bryant, and Darlene Cherry, all of Baltimore Md,one daughter in law Yvonne cherry of Philadelphia,12 grandchildren, Anthony (Tony), Ernest jr (swoop), Nichole (Nickey), of Philadelphia, Sereta of North Carolina, James (JJ) Jackie, Bernie, Eric, Karen, Cornelius (fat Boy), Tanya, Damien all of Baltimore Md, one sister Agnes, one brother Dorsey both of New York, and a host of great grandchildren,nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
