Jeremy Lawimore

October 18, 1973 — September 8, 2023

That which has been is what will be,

That which is done is what will be done,

And there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9

Jeremy Vernal Lawimore was born to Catherine L Cooper and the late Vernal Lawimore on October 18, 1973. His mother's only child, he was her gift from God. He adored his grandparents, Henry & Mary Cooper who had an indelible imprint on his life. Lent to us but for a season, our "Beloved" was suddenly called to glory September 8, 2023. As he left his earthly residence for the last time, the skies opened and sent forth the rain as if to wash away the tears and give comfort in knowing that he now has a new residence and God is in control.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jeremy was educated in the Catholic School system. Beginning his education at St. Elizabeth Catholic School. He attended Roman Catholic High where he realized his passion, Basketball. Known as Jeremy "Saddle" Lawimore, his team went undefeated for all of the years that he played. His love for basketball never left him and he played every week until a time when he physically could no longer do so. Jeremy went on to obtain his Master's degree in Psychology at the University of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM).

Jeremy was baptized Catholic at St. Elizabeth Church at a young age. He personally developed his faith and became an avid child of God.

Although for many years when asked, "What does he do" no one could actually utter his occupation. However, he was a hard worker and provider for his family. Always open to opportunity, he dabbed in many fields most of the time simultaneously. He was a TSS (therapeutic staff support) working with troubled children in Behavioral Health. He worked in Mobile Therapy for the Philadelphia school system. He was a licensed Salesperson/Realtor with the Higgins and Welch Real Estate, Inc team. He landed as a Property Evaluator for the City of Philadelphia. He made many friends along his way.

Most important is Mary Lawimore, his high school sweetheart, his wife, his best friend. They met at the route 39 bus stop at Broad St and Susquehanna Ave and never looked back. They married and had four children: Jamil, Jalen, Briana - "Princess", Janiya - "Angel Face", (Joseph). Joseph, his nephew, infused himself into the offspring line-up as the fifth child. He taught all of his extended children life lessons and was quick to give a lecture. He was a proud father and uncle as he watched them grow into productive young men and women.

In loving memory of our beloved, he leaves behind a family who will forever cherish the moments they shared with him: His devoted wife, Mary, who stood by his side through thick and thin. His cherished children, Jamil, Jalen, Briana, and Janiya who were his pride and joy; and bonus sons/nephews Joseph, Gregory and Andre. His loving mother, Catherine, whose unwavering support and love sustained him throughout his life. His dear Aunt Joan, who also served as his godmother, and was the wife of the late Uncle David, who preceded him in death. His Uncle Jackie(Evelyn), who was there to offer guidance and support. His siblings Gloria, Jenetta, Twala, Lavernal, James, and Daniel, who shared a tapestry of memories and bonds that will never fade. His mother-in-law, Doris, who treated him as her own and shared in the joy of their extended family. His Brothers-in-Law, Frederick Jr. and Christopher(Tyler) and his Sister-in-Law Deborah(Eugene) who became more than just family, but true friends. His "last baby" and great niece, Lyric, whom he endearingly called "Choco-latte". His cousin-brother, Jermaine, who shared a unique bond that went beyond family ties. And his best friend-brother, Sherman, who was there through all of life's ups and downs. As well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Together, they mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, brother, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed but whose memory will live on in their hearts forever.
