Jimia Thomas-Alston

March 20, 1989 — October 15, 2020

Jimia DeShae Nicole Thomas- Alston, was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 20, 1989 and on October 15, 2020 she made her transition to be with her heavenly father. Jimia recognized her love for God at an early age and made the commitment to keep her love for him first.

Jamia, affectionally known as Mia, was the daughter of Tamika Bumpus-Freeman and Horace Fuller, but God knew “his” daughter and decided to give her a few special bonuses. God saw fit to bless Jimia with a community of parents to pour into her life because he knew that her enormous heart contained enough love to go around. Jimia was raised by her doting grandparents Ardalia and Willie Bumpus. Jimia was also blessed to have Horace Fuller Sr and Ruth Fuller as her grandparents, they also preceded her in death. Her life was additionally blessed by having James H. Thomas, Johnny Craig, and Lewis Freeman.

Jimia was the eldest daughter of five girls and took pride in being the big sister. Her love for her sisters was immense and she displayed it with pride. Jimia was a fearless big sister who showed resilience and strength throughout her life.

Jimia and Waties Alston III, affectionately known as "Rusty", met as teenagers and became the love of each other’s life and formed their union. Together, they were abundantly blessed with six beautiful daughters: Aaliyah Camry, Naveah Tamika, Allura Ashanti, Aahna Ardalia, Aubreii Amia, Akeeyah Shanell and one son Kevon Rodney.

Jimia was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and so much more. She loved singing, dancing, eating great food, arts and crafts, being an active church member, modeling, and just enjoying the adventures of life. Jimia’s speed and precision with braiding was unmatched even though you could not pay her to finish it.

Jimia understood the importance of maintaining strong relationships with her loved ones and mending any of her relationships. Through her relationship with God, Jimia’s final gesture was evidence of her faith through it all. Jimia pointed towards the heavens acknowledging “Into your hands I commit my spirit oh Lord."

Jimia was preceded in death by two of her children: Navaeh Tamika and Kevon Rodney, her Grandparents: Ardalia and Willie Bumpus, Horace Fuller Sr and Ruth Fuller.

Left to cherish the memory of Jimia are: her loving husband Waties Alston III, five precious daughters: Aaliyah Camry, Allura Ashanti, Aahna Ardalia, Aubreii Amia; parents Tamika Bumpus-Freeman (Lewis), Horace Fuller, James Henry Thomas, and Johnny Craig, four sisters Kevonya, Nikia, Janelle, Shanda, Jenice, and Shanae, Shanell (sister-in-law), Randy and Jerell (Brothers-in-law); five nephews Arden-Navae, Jasai, and Khabir, Tyree Raheem and Jeromiah Lee and three nieces Jayla Tamara, Ahmarie Renell, Jaliyah Brielle.

And a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
