Kim Denson

October 11, 1956 — March 29, 2021

Dover, DE

Kim Yvonne Denson (Benson) was born on October 11, 1956 to the late Carlton Benson and the late Delores Baker in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the oldest granddaughter out of the Benson and Baker family. She was among the first to graduate from William Penn Highschool class of 1974 and went on to nursing school. After completing nursing school, she went on to work at a nursing home in Olney, Philadelphia.

On September 10, 1971 she gave birth to her first-born son, Demetrius Grisson, she later gave birth to her second son David Grisson, Jr on September 30, 1979, and finally gave birth to her daughter, Kimberly Dixon (Grisson) on February 15, 1981; all from Philadelphia, PA.

In 1991 She and her children moved to Tifton, GA where she married Willie Denson, Jr. in 1995. She rededicated her life to the Lord in 1993 and accepted her call to ministry at Herring Memorial United Methodist Church in Tifton, GA under the leadership of Pastor Yvette Bankston. She later went on to become an ordained minister at Eagle’s Wings Church of God in Tifton, GA under the leadership of Pastor Reather Campbell. She remained a faithful servant there until she moved to Dover, DE in 2012.

Upon her arrival in Dover, DE she wasted no time getting plugged into ministry at Mount Carmel Church of the Living God under the leadership of Bishop Nelson Lewis. She became an ordained Elder in 2016 and continued to serve God until her untimely death.

She was overjoyed when she became a grandmother to twin girls Zymirah and Samayah Grisson, affectionately called “Granny Girls”, on March 21, 2013. They were her joy and she always made sure to teach them about the love of God and how Jesus died for their sins.

She leaves behind her husband, Willie Denson, Jr., three children, Demetrius Grisson, David Grisson, Jr and Kimberly Dixon (son-in-law Adrien Dixon), two granddaughters Zymirah and Samayah Grisson, her brother, Carlton Benson, Jr, her sister Ruthanne Purnell, 4 nephews, 1 niece, 3 aunts, 1 uncle and a host of cousins.
