Margaret Harley

Margaret Elizabeth Harley was born on January 1, 1929 in Charleston, SC to the late Irene and Samuel Simmons.She departed this life on September 5, 2018. Margaret moved to New York in the 1950's to help take care of some of her cousins when their mother passed away. After she left New York she came to Philadelphia where she met and married the late Henry Harley, in 1953. From that union 2 children were born.She obtained employment at Albert Einstein Hospital working in the laundry department where she worked for a number of years. She later worked as a homemaker for families in West Chester, PA, where she was well regarded. Margaret loved to travel and shop. She preferred to travel via Greyhound or car, so she could sit back and enjoy the long ride & scenery. When her health started to fail and she could no longer travel on her own, she took every opportunity available to go for a car ride with her children, especially during the holidays.She is survived by her 2 daughters, Dolores & Veda, granddaughter, Tressa & great-grandson Joshua. Also her cousin Pearl Garrett; they were raised together as sisters when Margaret's parents passed away when she was a little girl. Additionally, she leaves a host of cousins to cherish her memories.The Harley family wish to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness during this time of bereavement. Thanks to the Mainline Hospice Team for their help, with special thanks to her aide Anita Jackson whom she called "the hairdresser”.
