Margaret Smalley

Margaret Yvonne Smalley was born to Welcome & Camilla Smalley in Philadelphia, PA December 18, 1939.

Margaret was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. She was a servant of the Lord’s from a very young age. She worked as a Seamstress in North Philadelphia for many years. She enjoyed playing the lottery daily (multiple times) and loved listening to music, her all-time favorites were Ray Charles and Shirley Caesar. She was very well known around the neighborhood as Ms. Margaret. She had a soft spot for the kids and loved them as her own. The children in the neighborhood loved her and she would always come baring gifts. No matter what, her hands stayed full for others. She was very outspoken and athletic, no one could outrun her, especially her boys. She had a passion for doing hair, she had a mean hard press. She loved her bible and depended on it daily, Psalm 23 being her most favorite.

Margaret’s health began to fail in 2005. With one challenge after the other. But nonetheless, her persistence was always great. She held on until our Heavenly Father called her home on July 20th, 2019.

She was preceded in death by both parents Welcome and her mother Camilla Smalley. Her long-life companion Joseph Williams preceded her death as well. Also, preceded in death by her sisters Mildred, Doris and Mary, brothers Bobby Lee and Thomas and William and her grandson Tyrell Washington. She leaves to cherish her priceless moments with her children, Anna, Linda (Orville), Anthony, Michael (Candy) and Kevin (Taminka). She also leaves her three siblings Leroy, Edward. In addition, 14 grandkids, Michael, Ieshia, Quinton, Shana, Shannon, Lamona, Mark, Kevin, Quan, Yazmine, Michael Jr., Gabrielle, Ashanti and Tyreen, and 20 great grands. A host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and other close friends.

She will be truly missed!
