Sabaka Osine Merritt passed away Thursday April 11, 2019 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the age of 41. Sabaka or "Bak" as he was affectionately known was born on September 12, 1977. Sabaka loved kids more than anything in this world. Born to Barbra Ann Brown and was soon adopted by Alvin Egenious Merritt. He was born in New York and moved to Philadelphia early after Barbra and Alvin married. The family moved to Houston,Texas i the early 80's where he flourished in football and track throughout his junior high and high school years.
After graduation, he moved back to Philadelphia. He always considered to people close to him not as a friend but as family. His love for kids led him to be a safe, reliable school bus driver and Bak was the best. He was admired and very well respected by his peers, co-workers and parents of the children who he cared for daily. He treated everyone he knew with the utmost respect and decency. He was very outgoing, trustworthy and brutally honest. He was definitely a people person and would give the shirt off of his back for someone in need all while battling health issues.
He was preceded in death by Gladys and Isaiah Brown, Earl and Margaret Merritt and Keith Merritt.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his mother Barbra, father Alvin, brother Raheem and close cousins, Jazmin, Nathan Ware, Lesley, Keith Merritt II. Sabaka's kind heart, humility loved and cared for children was felt by so many near and far away. He truly was one of a kind and will be missed by everyone who he had the honor and privilege of knowing him. Sabaka never gave up on life and his own words "I FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT"
