Tamika Mack-Hawkins

November 4, 1970 — October 16, 2018

Tamika LaRon Mack-Hawkins was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 4,
1970. Tamika enter this world on a misty rainy night. She was the first born to Lucy Ann
Hawkins and Arnold Mack. The first grandchild along with the first niece born into the Hawkins
family. As a young girl, Tamika has always been sweet and sassy. She enjoyed having fun and
was always full of comfort.

Tamika was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. Graduated from Murrell
Dobbins Career and Technical High School in the class of 1988. Tamika was a beautician who
enjoyed doing hair from her home in Dorado Village. Tamika was notorious for answering the
phone and stating, “House of Beauty, Ms. Cutie who’s speaking”. Tamika worked as a

supervisor at Doubletree Hotel in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. While working as a
supervisor at Doubletree hotel, Tamika met and married Arley Townsend. Tamika was
intelligent, funny, and always brought others to laughter. She loved life itself and loved her two
children dearly, Natae Takia Rankin and Brandon Terrell Hawkins. With the excitement and love
in her life, Natae blessed her with her two grandsons, Major Nasair and Nathan Jasair Matthews.
Major and Nate always brought joy to her soul. Even throughout her illness, Tamika still
managed to stay strong for others and had the energy to entertain her grandsons, Major and
Nathan. Tamika was close to her cousin, Evetris Aikia who she affectionately called “E”.
Tamika was tough and very much in control of her life. Tamika, like all the members of the
Hawkins family, loved to cook and was charming. She made it clear before her death that she
wanted her family to continue loving and caring for each other no matter the circumstance.
Tamika took pride in knowing that there were many nurses in our family who nurtured her and
loved her even when she was hospitalized. She always expressed her gratitude to the family
nurses, Kia, Dianne, Carol Denise, Kathy, Terri, Summer, and the head nurse/caregiver, and only
daughter, Natae. She also wanted gratitude shown towards the nurses of Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital’s seventh floor and Intensive Care Unit. Natae, the family would like to
venerate you for taking excellent care of your mother. Proceeding Tamika’s death, her
grandparents Willie and Mattie Hawkins, Isaac and Rowena Mack, her mother Lucy Ann
Hawkins, and her aunt Carmen Mack. Blessed with beautiful memories to cherish are Tamika’s
children, Natae and Brandon, Two Grandchildren, Major and Nate, her father, Arnold Mack,
Two Brothers, Arnold and Terrell, her only sister, Vogue Wallace, her aunts, Evertris, Becky,
Cheryl, and Tootsie, and her uncles, Arnold and Issac Mack Jr. Tamika truly adored her special
connections with her father, Arnold Mack, her brothers Arnold and Terrell, and her sister Vogue.

For anyone who knew Tamika, one thing was for sure, she did things her own way up until her
very last moment on this earth.

We don’t mourn for Mika, we rejoice in the victory she gained through her faith and
confession in Jesus Christ.
